On Wednesday, October 13, 2004 our Director, Kit Gage participated in a Post 9-11 "Citizen Hearing" on the Status of Civil Rights & Liberties in the U.S., chaired By Rep. John Conyers (D-MI).
The hearing received testimony from national civil rights organizations, legal scholars, activists, religious and lay leaders, as well as prominent citizens and victims, and family members who have suffered as a direct result of post 9-11 governmental policies. Participants focused on the erosion of civil rights and highlighted positive solutions, activities, and potential practices that could be implemented.
